Contaminated Sites

Multi-Pathway Quantitative Risk Assessments

Path Forward’s toxicological specialists conduct human health and/or ecological risk assessments in support of remedial actions designed to achieve regulatory agency closure of releases or to facilitate redevelopment of brownfields properties. Such risk assessments require a defensible understanding of the chemical distribution in environmental media, anticipated current and future land uses, and estimation of potential chemical exposures. With this information, the risk at a site can be calculated by comparing analytical data to appropriate screening levels, or whether the risk and site-specific remediation goals must be calculated following United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS) or state guidance. We apply various risk-based, corrective-action methods to address the issues posed by site contamination.
